Vertregt (crater)

Vertregt is the ancient remnant of a large lunar impact crater. It is located on the far side of the Moon, to the north of the unusual walled plain Van de Graaff. The prominent crater Aitken lies across the northeast rim of Vertregt, and Zwicky is attached to the northwestern rim. Vertregt has been heavily eroded and reshaped by subsequent events, leaving only a few segments

Virtanen (crater)

Virtanen is a lunar impact crater that is located to the northeast of the larger crater Sharonov, and to the east of Anderson. Virtanen lies on the far side of the Moon, and cannot be viewed directly from the Earth. This crater has a nearly circular rim, with a relatively narrow inner wall and a small rise near the interior midpoint. A small crater Virtanen F

Volkov (crater)

Volkov is a lunar impact crater on the Moon’s far side. It is located to the north of the prominent crater Tsiolkovskiy, and east-southeast of Dobrovol’skiy. Overlying the southeastern rim of Volkov is the satellite crater Volkov J, and the two have merged to form a figure-8 shape. The crater Lander is attached to the southwest rim of Volkov J, making this a triple-crater formation.

Vallis Bouvard

Vallis Bouvard is a 284-km-long valley on the Moon, centered at 38.3°S 83.1°W. It begins at the southern rim of the crater Shaler, and winds its way to the south-southeast towards Baade. This is one of several such valleys that radiate away from the southeast edge of the Mare Orientale circular impact basin, the other two being Vallis Inghirami and Vallis Baade. It was

Vallis Inghirami

Vallis Inghirami (latin for Inghirami Valley) is a valley on the Moon. Diameter of the valley is about 145 km. It is named after Giovanni Inghirami, and the name was approved by IAU in 1964. The valley trends from Mare Orientale to the crater Inghirami. Vallis Inghirami Vallis Inghirami seen beside Inghirami crater Length 140 km Geography Coordinates 43.8°S 72.2°W

van’t Hoff (crater)

van’t Hoff is a lunar impact crater named after Dutch chemist Jacobus H. van ‘t Hoff and is located to the northeast of the walled plain Birkhoff, on the far side of the Moon. To the northwest is the crater Stebbins, and to the east lies the smaller Dyson. This crater lies at high northern latitudes of the lunar surface, almost two-thirds the way from the equator to the pole.

Van der Waals (crater)

Van der Waals is a lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon. It is a heavily eroded feature with an irregular outer rim. The edge is lowest along the southern side where it is little more than a circular crest along the ground. It is more developed along the northern side, but the rim is notched and rugged. The

Tikhov (lunar crater)

Tikhov is an eroded lunar impact crater on the Moon’s far side. It is nearly attached to the east-southeastern outer rim of the larger crater Avogadro. About one crater diameter the east-northeast of Tikhov is the equally worn crater Emden, and to south-southeast lies the younger Tsinger. This feature has been battered by subsequent impacts, leaving a series of smaller craters along the rim,

Titov (crater)

Titov is a relatively small lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon. The most unusual aspect of this crater is that it is located entirely within the Mare Moscoviense, one of the few maria found on the far side of the Moon. It lies to the northwest of the crater Komarov, in the northern half of the mare. It is named for cosmonaut Gherman Titov,

Tsinger (crater)

Tsinger is a lunar impact crater that is located in the northern latitudes of the Moon’s far side. This crater has a perimeter that is nearly circular, except for an outward bulge to the southwest. Attached to the northern outer rim is the relatively fresh satellite crater Tsinger Y, which, together with Tsinger, partly overlaps the much older crater Tsinger W.
